Today I joined the ranks of the unemployed A&P world....... Its not so much being laid off but to have a manager do it the way it was done. Waiting until 30 minutes to going home on friday before breaking the news, knowing you can't really do anything until monday. And on top of the insult to injury, I have taken non-paid days off to help the company, and they lay me off so I can't use my 3 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) I have on the books. Would have had a week and 2 days of PTO but had to use 32 hrs for Vegas to attend the expo and partake in training classes (also done at my expense).

One thing I learned today is there are pathetic managers out there that need to come here and learn the right way to be a DOM. Taking care of your people takes care of business....... An old Chief Master Sargeant that I worked for at Little Rock AFB told me once that you take care of your people and they will take care of you.

Mike, that is really a sorry way for a manager to treat anyone, much less a loyal employee.

My brother in law has a saying, "What goes around, comes around". I have seen it in action and I firmly believe in it. His time is coming.

I really do not understand that you cannot take the PTO that you have accrued and collect on it. There has gotta be a law about that.

I'm not lost, just momentarily disoriented.

Sorry to hear about that Mike and especially the way it was done. Sounds like it wasn't the best place to be employed after all.

Best of luck to you in finding an employer who appreciates you.

Still awaiting word back from a couple leads. The problem so far is that it is an employers market. Right now they aren't waivering on experience levels because the don't have to with so many mechanics out of work. It comes down to 'you need to have experience, but no one will let you get it".

PS: My former employer just laid of 2 more technicians last firday, again 30 minutes before the end of the day. Easter weekend never the less.

Well I finally broke down and had to do it. I filed for unemployment today. Wasn't too proud of the situation, always figured I would leave it to people who really needed it. Well entering third week of the job search, several nibbles but nothing panning out past one phone interview and one sit down interview. Everyone is playing the waiting game, and one note that kind of aggrivates me is that you apply for a position, and a few days later the company re-lists the job opening. Guess not enough competition for the position.

Figured this way I can get a couple more search resources.

YOu got to love how people like to kick you when things aren't going well.

Been hitting the road hard trying to put together a job, and today I came back from a job fair in Tulsa at Spartan College to find my landlord wants me to renew my lease for 6 months or a year, OR......................................... this where it gets intersting my rent will go up $110 per month to stay on the month to month basis like I have been on since my lease expired six months ago.....

Gotta love timing....... because there a re no aviation jobs in the area in order to stay here, but haven't got a position ironed down to be able to put 30 days notice in Brick wall

Sierra Nevada offered $24/hr with a sign on bonus of almost $3800 with a start date of 1 jun. Background check and drug test will still need to be accomplished.

This is a funny part about needing to get something done out of the ordinary. SNC needs me to get my fingerprints taken and mailed into them as part of my background check...... One police deprtment closed on fridays (budget cuts), one PD won't take my fingerprints because I live in the town next door, another PD only on tuesdays and thursdays, and the county sherriff only does it on tuesdays and thursdays.

But if I was a criminal they would do it anytime........ Crooks get it done for free and I get charged $10...... Go Figure.

Drive your car right into their station, THEN they will take your finger prints, for free. Anxious
